Effective
July 1, 2009, Barnstable County’s portion of the Deeds
Excise Tax increases to $1.35 per $500.00 of value. The new
combined State and County Deeds Excise Tax rate in Barnstable
County is $3.06 per $500.00 (or $6.12 per $1,000.00) of stated
consideration.
The
program update to calculate the new rate for Standard Conveyancer
and Standard HUD & Title will be delivered through your
program's Auto-Updater. If your office has not yet installed
the Auto-Updater, click
here for more information.
To
verify that your system is calculating the new rate: Round
the purchase price up to the nearest $500.00 and multiply by
.00612. For example: If the price is $350,100.00, round up to
$350,500.00 and multiply by .00612. If the price is $350,600.00,
round up to $351,000.00 and multiply by .00612.
If
your Auto-Updater has not yet downloaded the update and you
have a Barnstable County purchase file to close, you can either
override the automatic calculation in the program or call us
to manually update your program for you.
