Standard
Solutions maintains compatibility with the latest Microsoft
operating systems, Word versions and Service Packs.
Microsoft
Service Packs are bundled program fixes and enhancements.
They are available for download at http://support.microsoft.com.
It is vitally important to keep your Microsoft Word program
up to date with the latest Service Packs to ensure system
reliability and optimum performance of your Standard Solutions
software.* (To check your MS Word version and service pack
(SP) status, click the Help menu, then About Microsoft
Word.)
*
Installing Service Packs may change your Microsoft
Word macro settings, which may prevent document merges
from completing. You should check
macro settings after installation.
Original MS CD media may be required in order to complete
Service Pack installation.
Why
is this important?
Word
2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) addresses a variety of critical
issues, including erroneous DDE data merge results. If you
are using Word 2003, please verify that SP2 has been installed.
Launch Word and look for "SP2" at the end of the
Word version by choosing: Help, then About Microsoft
Word.
When
Word 2003 is allowed to run in "minimized" mode,
some data merges can be reduced from minutes to just seconds!
A simple Windows registry key as described in Microsoft
Knowledge Base ("KB") Article (KB840996) enables
this ability in Word 2003 with SP2 installed. Standard Solutions
has developed a program that will do this Registry edit
for you. The program is needed only for Word 2003, and it
needs to run on each workstation in your office that uses
Word 2003. The program is designed to be run AFTER you have
updated your Word 2003 with Service Pack 2. Click
here to download and install the edit.

information about the Microsoft Windows Registry can be

Help
with software maintenance
Software
maintenance is an ongoing process of modification and enhancement
to improve software performance and maintain compatibility
with both new and existing computing environments, regulatory
requirements and customer requests. It is a responsibility
that is shared by software vendors and clients. Keeping
your software maintained, your data backed up and your systems
running at peak performance can at times become quite a
daunting challenge. Consult regularly with a qualified computer/networking
technician to keep your Microsoft environment current and
to address any issues with your computer workstations, printers,
data backup, network communications and anti-virus/spy ware
applications.
If
you have not yet established a relationship with a qualified
computer/networking consultant, maybe we can help. We offer
a range of affordable services both directly and through
our network of qualified service providers. Please let us
know if you are currently working with a technician that
you would highly recommend to others, so that we may add
them to our reference list.
