The American Land Title Association's new 2006 title insurance
forms are scheduled to come into use this month. Most of the
changes are in the policy jackets, but your title insurance
underwriters are making many changes to the schedules and commitments
that you generate in Standard Conveyancer.
Status
on the New Forms:
In
April, concerned that we had not yet received any new forms,
Standard Solutions sent
a message to all underwriters in all the states we support
explaining the urgency and asking for the forms as soon as possible.
Many have not sent anything yet, in some cases because they
have not yet finalized their forms. Judging by the rate at which
these forms are trickling in to us, we know that some of the
new packages will be available for Standard Conveyancer well
before others. We are committed to getting all the new forms
added to the software as quickly as possible as they come in.
We
don't anticipate that any underwriter will leave you in a position
where you are unable to generate commitments or policies. As
in the past, the forms should be available from your underwriters
either on disk, through their Web sites, or on paper. In addition,
your current schedules and commitments will remain in your system
until they are replaced by the new ones. It is up to your underwriter
to give you instructions on what to do during this changeover
period.
Installation
of the Updated Forms / Program Requirements:
Standard
Solutions will release a program update in the next week or
so that will let you download your new underwriter packages
as they become available. In order to download this update,
you
must be running Standard Conveyancer version 10.20.3 or higher.
(Click Help, then About, then About Standard
Conveyancer to determine your current version.)
All
client offices received our version 10.20 update on CD-ROM by
last September at the latest. If your office has not yet installed
the update, however, you should contact our office before proceeding.
Please do not run your update disk before contacting us first.
Clients
still merging documents with WordPerfect 5.1 were previously
notified that due to the scope of this project and the eventual
discontinuance of WP 5.1 support, the new title insurance documents
would only be supported in Microsoft Word. If this applies to
you, please contact us as soon as possible to schedule your
MS Word upgrade.
