Malware
and backups
What
do computer viruses, spyware, ransomware
and other types of malicious software have to do with backups?
It's simple -- some of these things do so much damage that the
only way to recover is to wipe your computer clean and start
over. Your documents, pictures and program data will all be
lost if you don't have comprehensive, working backups.
Most
firms do backups of some sort, but on multiple occasions we've
seen our clients experience problems trying to recover from
data loss. Problems include backup programs not working correctly
and users not knowing how to restore from their backups. It's
worth checking it out if you didn't read it last year (or if
you did read it but didn't do anything about it): Data
backup and recovery for title agents - Traps for the unwary.
Please
call our support department if you have any questions about
backing up your Standard Conveyancer or Quicken data.

QuickTip:
Entering
tax info
The
Annual Tax field on the Financial screen does not "control"
the monthly real estate tax escrow amount on the HUD-1 Page 2,
and vice versa.
The
Annual Tax field is used for Page 1 tax proration and title insurance
schedules. The program will fill 1/12 of the figure into line
1004, but you can change line 1004 if the escrow is based on a
future tax amount that is higher.
If
you change line 1004, it will not change or update the Annual
Tax field on the Financial screen.
