Time running out to sign-up for 1099-S Year-End Processing

The sign-up deadline for our Year-End Processing Service has been extended to the end of this week -- Friday, December 22nd.

Standard Solutions' 1099-S Year-End Processing (YEP) Service uses the data contained in your Standard Conveyancer to prepare your year-end 1099-S filing. Electronic filing is mandatory if you need to file 250 or more forms, and optional for smaller filings.

For most firms, the chief benefit of using our YEP service is the great savings over time-consuming and labor-expensive paper filings.

If you haven't already, please take a moment to review the information on our Year-End Processing Service. If you are familiar with our YEP service from past years, you can go right to the deadline and sign-up information to sign up for this year.

Upcoming Holiday Schedule

Standard Solutions will be closed Monday, December 25th and Monday, January 1st. No emergency service will be available either day.

Microsoft Word "Ambiguous Name Detected" Message

Microsoft Word may at times display the message "Ambiguous Name Detected" during the data merge process that generates your documents for printing. The following explains why this happens and how clear the message.

Upon request from Standard Conveyancer, Word creates a temporary macro ("TmpDDE") to execute other macros needed for the data merging process. This macro is normally deleted automatically upon successful completion of the process. However, if the process is interrupted and Word does not automatically delete the macro, then subsequent data merges will display the "Ambiguous Name Detected" message. This is because Word is trying to create a macro that already exists.

To clear the message, you need to clear out the "TmpDDE" macro as follows:

In Word, click Tools, then Macro, then Organizer. If the "TmpDDE" macro is listed in the right-hand window, click on it to highlight it and then click the Delete button.

Also, in Word, click Tools, then Macro, then Macros and delete any instances of "WordTmpDDEMod1."

Getting an "Ambiguous Name Detected" message is not a major problem, but it may be helpful to keep these instructions handy in case you need them in the future. If you find this to be a recurring problem, it may indicate there is a problem with your computer or your MS Word installation. Please call us if you would like to discuss this issue before having your computer serviced.
