New
Massachusetts Recorded Document Formatting Standards Postponed
You may
have heard that the Massachusetts Registers of Deeds Association voted
to delay the implementation of the new recorded document formatting
standards for one year. The new standards were to have taken effect
January 1, 2007.
One of
the reasons for the delay was that the new standards for margins (three
inches on the top of the first page and one inch for all other margins)
would have made it difficult to use current forms. While Standard Solutions
was in the process of reformatting documents to meet the new standards,
we too have concerns about the impact of the new rules (particularly
on our practice of making our forms emulate as closely as possible the
published Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac originals).
The Registers
appear to be open to industry input on these kinds of issues and Standard
Solutions will be making its concerns known. If you have any comments
for us on this issue, please call or write to Ken
Foster.
